ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS

Our products are reusable alternatives to plastics that are inspired by nature. We are always developing new ideas and concepts that utilise new technologies, eco-friendly processes and materials from around the world.

Our products are made from responsibly sourced and hard wearing eco-friendly materials from around the globe, often utilising waste byproducts from other industries- such as bamboo husk fibre.

The majority of our products are made from either a biodegradable composite made from husk fibre and a corn starch based polymer; organic cottons, linens and bamboo fabrics and/or recyclable food grade silicone.

Through research we work to develop and design products that are safer for the planet by continuing to test advanced bio materials and methods to help end our plastic dependency.

What is husk fibre composite?

Husk fibre is a biodegradable composite that is either made from bamboo, wheat or rice husk.  The husk is utilised as it is a waste byproduct from the food, fashion and retail industries that is often discarded and incinerated.

Husk fibres are combined with a corn starch (or other natural) based polymer to create a composite material that is used to create our lunchboxes, food storage containers, drink bottles and keep cups.

Using naturally-sourced (often repurposed) materials allows us to develop and manufacture products with the smallest environmental footprint possible.

Made primarily of organic waste, our husk fibre products are also designed to leave behind as little waste as possible when created and when we decide to throw them away.

We avoid putting plastic or petroleum-based ingredients in our products allowing them to return back to nature at the end of their lifespan.

What is silicone?

While not a “100% natural” material like rubber, food-grade silicone is a non-toxic polymer mostly made from silica (sand). It can withstand heating and freezing without leaching or off-gassing, hazardous chemicals – unlike plastics, which contaminate food in these environments.

We use silicone in or reusable food wraps, ziplocks and baking mats as they are resilient and hard wearing in the kitchen.

Bonded silicon is a natural element, abundant in sand and rock- particularly quartz which is found in beach sand. Silicone grade bakeware/kithenware is heat-resistant and safe for the oven and freezer. It doesn't change flavours or release odours that might affect food quality. It's believed to have low toxicity and thermal stability.

Silicone can be recycled and recycled silicone is commonly used as a lubricant for machinery.  Find out if silicone can be recycled in your local community.
