Our Mission
The main aim behind Big Bite Eco is to reduce the amount of plastic waste we generate when we consume food & beverages daily. By cutting down on single use items & replacing them with well designed, useful, reusable options, we hope that people will begin to change their behaviour to opt for reusable options.
Alongside our products we provide information to our customers on ways they can gradually start to cut down on plastics in their lives. Such as making their own oat milk, making plastic free coffee, ways to keep food fresher longer etc. We also use minimal packaging for our products & any packaging we do use is made from recycled or biodegradable materials.
We specifically choose our manufacturing partners based on their commitment to environmental practices within their own businesses. Having previously lived & worked as a product designer/developer in Asia I am luckily enough to have found some great small businesses that share our ethos in creating sustainable products.
Husk fibres are combined with a corn starch (or other natural) based polymer to create a composite material that is used to create our lunchboxes, food storage containers, drink bottles and keep cups.
Using naturally-sourced (often repurposed) materials allows us to develop and manufacture products with the smallest environmental footprint possible.
Made primarily of organic waste, our husk fibre products are also designed to leave behind as little waste as possible when created and when we decide to throw them away.
We avoid putting plastic or petroleum-based ingredients in our products allowing them to return back to nature at the end of their lifespan.

While not a “100% natural” material like rubber, food-grade silicone is a non-toxic polymer mostly made from silica (sand).
It can withstand heating and freezing without leaching or off-gassing, hazardous chemicals – unlike plastics, which contaminate food in these environments.
We use silicone in or reusable food wraps, ziplocks and baking mats as they are resilient and hard wearing in the kitchen.
Bonded silicon is a natural element, abundant in sand and rock- particularly quartz which is found in beach sand. Silicone grade bakeware/kitchenware is heat-resistant and safe for the oven and freezer.
It doesn't change flavours or release odours that might affect food quality. It's believed to have low toxicity and thermal stability.
Silicone can be recycled and recycled silicone is commonly used as a lubricant for machinery.
